CHIME Plugin

  • To see the 3D structure you need to download and install the CHIME plugin

  • Chime supports most of the popular structure display formats that scientists use including MDL Information Systems' Molfile and Rxnfile and many of the popular 3D display formats such as the Brookhaven Protein Databank (PDB) format (3D rendering and RasMol scripting code courtesy of Roger Sayle.)

    1. SGI

    Chime is a molecular graphics program in the form of a browser plug-in. It is available to download for free from MDL. Important: Currently, only the 8 bit graphics version of Chime is available for the SGI platform. If you are using a Silicon Graphics workstation you will need to start your browser in 8 bit graphics mode to be able to use Chime. This is accomplished when using the netscape browser by starting netscape using the command:

    netscape -visual pseudocolor



    2. PC

    PC version of the STING will operate correctly with:

    Netscape 4.03

    and

    Chemscape Chime Version 2.0beta2 32bit
